Where we know the seabed (12 of 39 beaches) there are 11 sandy and 1 pebble. Most are sandy (92%).
Water quality: 34 of 39 beaches with an EEA monitoring point are rated excellent (87%, 2025 season). Others: 5 good.
The beaches mostly face north (15 beaches) and northwest (14 beaches). When the Sirocco (SE) blows, the beaches facing northwest stay sheltered: 29 of 39. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Tropea and Pizzo. With the Mistral (NW): none of these beaches gets an offshore wind.
Among the best-known beaches: Spiaggia di Riaci and Spiaggia Formicoli.
