Beaches in the province of Imperia
We monitor 40 beaches in the province of Imperia, in 15 municipalities. They all face on the Ligurian Sea. Most beaches: Sanremo (9), Ventimiglia (7) and Imperia (5). From north to south they range from Stabilimento Balneare il Porteghetto (Cervo) to Capo Sant'Ampelio beach (Bordighera).

Sanremo: 9 beaches, mostly sandy (86% where the seabed is known), mainly facing southeast. Ventimiglia: 7 beaches, mostly pebble (80% where the seabed is known), mainly facing south. Imperia: 5 beaches, mainly facing southeast. Bordighera: 4 beaches, mainly facing south. Cervo: 3 beaches, mainly facing southeast.
Where we know the seabed (23 of 40 beaches) there are 12 pebble and 11 sandy. Most are pebble (52%).
Water quality: 34 of 40 beaches with an EEA monitoring point are rated excellent (85%, 2025 season). Others: 5 good and 1 sufficient.
The beaches mostly face south (21 beaches) and southeast (19 beaches). When the Mistral (NW) blows, the beaches facing southeast stay sheltered: 30 of 40. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Sanremo and Imperia. With the Sirocco (SE): none of these beaches gets an offshore wind.
Among the best-known beaches: Plage Hawaï, Bussana beach and Sanremo beach.
Today (afternoon) the highest score is 70/100, at Le Calandre (Ventimiglia). 27 of 40 beaches are in good or perfect condition today (at least 65/100).
