Vasto: 14 beaches, mostly sandy (73% where the seabed is known), mainly facing east. Ortona: 9 beaches, mostly sandy (50% where the seabed is known), mainly facing northeast. San Vito Chietino: 4 beaches, mainly facing northeast. Torino di Sangro: 4 beaches, mainly facing northeast.
Where we know the seabed (27 of 38 beaches) there are 17 sandy, 9 pebble and 1 rocky. Most are sandy (63%).
Water quality: 33 of 37 beaches with an EEA monitoring point are rated excellent (89%, 2025 season). Others: 2 sufficient and 2 poor.
The beaches mostly face northeast (28 beaches) and east (7 beaches). When the Mistral (NW) blows, the beaches facing southeast stay sheltered: 1 of 38. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Vasto. With the Sirocco (SE): none of these beaches gets an offshore wind.
Among the best-known beaches: Spiaggia di Punta Penna, Spiaggia di Punta Aderci, San Salvo Marina beach and Spiaggia dei Ripari di Giobbe.
