Capoliveri: 34 beaches, mostly pebble (60% where the seabed is known), mainly facing south. Rio: 20 beaches, mostly pebble (100% where the seabed is known), mainly facing east. Portoferraio: 18 beaches, mostly pebble (62% where the seabed is known), mainly facing north. Campo nell'Elba: 14 beaches, mostly sandy (50% where the seabed is known), mainly facing south. Marciana: 9 beaches, mostly sandy (50% where the seabed is known), mainly facing northwest. Porto Azzurro: 7 beaches, mostly pebble (57% where the seabed is known), mainly facing southeast.

The seabed is known for 70 of 108 beaches: 43 pebble, 24 sandy and 3 rocky. The majority are pebble: 61%.

According to the European Environment Agency classification (EEA, 2025 season), 81 of the 81 beaches linked to a monitoring point have excellent water (100%).

The most common orientations are south (20 beaches) and east (16 beaches). With the Mistral (NW) 26 of 108 beaches are sheltered: those facing southeast. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Capoliveri and Porto Azzurro. When the Sirocco (SE) blows, the beaches facing northwest stay sheltered: 26 of 108. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Portoferraio and Marciana. 28 of 108 beaches are sheltered from the Tramontane (N): those facing south. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Capoliveri and Campo nell'Elba. With the Libeccio (SW) 35 of 108 beaches are sheltered: those facing northeast. Municipalities with the most sheltered beaches: Capoliveri and Rio.

Landmark beaches: Spiaggia di Fetovaia, Spiaggia di Cavoli, Spiaggia di Barbarossa, Spiaggia Sansone and Procchio.
